 Happy Halloween!! Be safe tonight  This week was quick but busy in Kindergarten Looking Back... - We had our first letter of the week, Pp, for Pumpkin - We sang 5 little pumpkins and created a visual journal page with 5 little pumpkins sitting on a gate - In math we also practiced representing numbers, starting with number 1, using pictures, number, stickers and tens frames - On Halloween we had a costume parade, carved a class pumpkin and had a class dance party - We also went to visit our grade 3 buddies and listened to the story "Creepy Pair of Underwear" and made our own creepy underwear  Looking Forward... - Library day is Tuesday, please return any books still at home for exchange ☺ - Picture Day is TUESDAY NOVEMBER 4th - A friendly reminder that as the weather cools down it is important for your child to come dressed for the weather!  It was so great to meet so many families last week at our first ever September Open House! Thanks for coming out and visiting our classroom  Looking Back... - Last week we had our Terry Fox run! The kiddos ran so many laps and no one gave up, even when they got tired they kept on walking - During the first few weeks we have reviewed classroom rules and expectations, we made a 👍👎 page and sorted different behaviours like using inside voices, walking feet, sharing and yelling, running etc into the right category - We have been practicing important skills using learning tools like scissors and glue. We talked about appropriate ways to use tools - For glue we read "Too Much Glue!" and practiced making mosaic art with small pieces of ripped paper glued onto a shape - For cutting we practiced how to hold scissors and chomp chomp chomp the paper! We made scissor salads and got to cut up all sorts of paper - Monday was Dot Day and we use our imagination to turn dots into a variety...

Welcome to Kindergarten my lovely crew!! We had a great first week ☺ Looking Back… - this week we got to know our new space, toured the school, found the Gym and Music room as well as the office and library.  - we met lots of new friends and practiced introducing ourselves and asking our friends what their names are too!  - we read lots of stories about going to school and the feelings that can come up  - on our first day with the whole class we drew pictures of ourselves and attempted to write our names - we also practiced colouring and making sure we go slow and take our time!! And colouring all the white spaces. Kindergarten is no place for scribbles  Looking Forward… - next week THURSDAY September 11th the AM kindergarteners will be running the Terry Fox Run together! Please send your kiddo in outdoor running shoes for this.  - we are also collecting toonies for Terry, our school goal is for each student to bring in at least 1 toonie in order to reach $1150 ...

Hello Kinder Families!  Welcome to Ms. Penfold's Kindergarten classroom blog Kindergarten Staggered Entry Kindergarten students will have staggered entry on Tuesday September 2 and Wednesday September 3. Tuesday September 2 (Students with the last name beginning with A-L) AM 9:00am -10:30am Wednesday September 3 (Students with the last name beginning with M-Z) AM 9:00am - 10:30am Teachers will meet families outside by the kindergarten doors on both Tuesday and Wednesday. After the staggered  entry days; Kindergarten Hours are 8:00am-10:50am for morning classes and 11:40am-2:30pm for afternoon classes. On Fridays, classes alternate and hours are 8:00am-12:00pm. This classroom blog is updated at the end of each week! ☺
