Looking Back... - Our letter of the week this week was Xx  - We created treasure maps with an X to mark the spot, and next week we will test out our classroom mapping skills by seeing if our friend can use our map to find out hidden treasure - We continued to observe the chicks and geese to watch them grow and change! - In math we continued on identifying and sorting 3D shapes by similar traits  Looking Forward... - FIELD TRIP: our field trip to the Farm Yard is happening next week Friday May 22nd, please send your kiddo with a snack, water bottle and any weather appropriate accessories they may need (rain coat, sunhat, sunscreen etc.)  - If you have not signed permission forms for the field trip, please have them back to me by Wednesday May 20th - Final Book Order: I have sent home our last book order of the year. Looking Back... - This week in kindergarten we got some special visitors!! Our eggs hatched and we have two baby chicks and as of yesterday, two baby geese as well - We spent a lot of time talking about, observing and sketching our new baby classmates  - The letter of the week was Qq for quilt, quack or queen - In math we started discussing 3D shapes and how they are different from 2D shapes, we went on a shape walk around the school to try and find spheres, cubes, cones and cylinders in real life Looking Forward... - Tuesday is Library day! Please send books back for exchange ☺ your kiddo gets to keep the book for ONE WEEk!! If it comes back to school the day after library, I am putting it back in their backpack for them to enjoy more.  - There is NO SCHOOL Friday May 15th or Monday May 18th

 Looking Back... - The letter of the week was Zz for Zoo and Zebra - We wrote letters to the zoo asking for some pets, ask your kindergartener what animal they "got" (ie. we made our own version of the book Dear Zoo) - We also did some zebra research and learned all about zebras, we created a fun fact page with an interesting fact we learned!  - In science we finished the five senses - With our buddies we celebrated there FINALLY being some sunshine and created a whole bunch of wild flowers for our "kinder garden" to brighten up the classroom - We got to spend lots of time outside getting fresh air and getting our wiggles out - For science we also have some special visitors joining us, right now they are just eggs!! We got to observe a few different types of eggs and make predictions of what is inside, ask your kiddo what they think will hatch (hopefully next week!)  Looking Forward... - Our field trip is coming up on Friday May 22nd for AM Kindergarten friends, if ...

 Looking Back... - This week in Kindergarten our letter of the week was Yy for Yak or Yoyo - We made a letter Y into a cute little yak drawing!! And made Yarn Monsters!  - It was also Earth Day, we talked about and brainstormed a few ideas on how we can help our community stay clean and healthy. Ask your kiddo what some of the ideas were ☺ - In math we finished up patterning, we are able to identify the core of a pattern, extend a pattern, label a pattern and create our own pattern using a variety of ideas like colours, shapes, pictures or stickers!  - We also finished our 5 senses science unit!! Looking Forward... - Tuesday is Library day! Please send books back for exchange ☺ your kiddo gets to keep the book for ONE WEEk!!  Looking Back...  - Monday we had our school wide Pancake Breakfast!! What a fantastic way to come back after spring break, the students all got to enjoy some pancakes, and even some line dancing - The letter of the week this week was Ee for Easter, Elephant and Egg... we have started talking about vowels making two sounds, both long and short vowel sounds - In math we returned to patterning and practiced finding the core of a pattern and then extending  - We created pattern Easter Eggs - With our buddies we made stain glass window spring art! Most of these were brought home this week, there are a few still being finished up - Although the weather is not cooperating outside, we have started talking about signs of spring... hopefully soon we can go for a walk and actually spot some spring changes!  Looking Forward... - Tuesday's are library day!  - If you have any leftover amounts of yarn laying around at home, please feel free to donate them to the classroom for...

 Looking Back... - The letter of the week was Bb for Bear!  - We did bear research and learned all about bears. We drew scientific drawings, labelled them, read non-fiction books about bears, watched some videos and made a research page about a fact that we learned about bears - ask your student what their fact was!  - For math we have started problem solving, using pictures, numbers and words to solve a variety of math problems - We managed to do two letters this week and also did the letter Hh for Hibernate  - We also discussed how you can organize things by categories such as organizing animals by how they move and we played games moving like different animals - We met with our buddies and made shamrocks!  Looking Forward... - Tuesday is Library day (we missed this week so we will get new books next week) - Tuesday March 17th is St. Patricks Day, your child can wear green if they choose - There is NO SCHOOL Thursday March 19th or 20th for conferences, please ...

Looking Back... A quick little week we had again! - The letter of this week was Ll - We labelled the classroom, using our phonetic awareness to stretch and sound out different words! We have been practicing this a lot recently as we start to build our reading and writing skills - We journaled about the Olympics, and drew pictures as what winter sport we would choose if we were athletes, ask your kiddo which sport they picked Looking Forward... - Friday February 20th is PM Kindergarten, please do not send your morning kindergarten friends ☺ our next AM Kindergarten in Friday March 6th!  - Tuesday is library day, please return all books!  - Wednesday February 25th is Pink Shirt day - to spread kindness and a sense of belonging.  - There is NO SCHOOL Friday February 27th for a system wide PD Day - A reminder; please DO NOT let your child bring ANY toys to school.
