 Looking Back... - The letter of the week was Bb for Bear!  - We did bear research and learned all about bears. We drew scientific drawings, labelled them, read non-fiction books about bears, watched some videos and made a research page about a fact that we learned about bears - ask your student what their fact was!  - For math we have started problem solving, using pictures, numbers and words to solve a variety of math problems - We managed to do two letters this week and also did the letter Hh for Hibernate  - We also discussed how you can organize things by categories such as organizing animals by how they move and we played games moving like different animals - We met with our buddies and made shamrocks!  Looking Forward... - Tuesday is Library day (we missed this week so we will get new books next week) - Tuesday March 17th is St. Patricks Day, your child can wear green if they choose - There is NO SCHOOL Thursday March 19th or 20th for conferences, please ...

Looking Back... A quick little week we had again! - The letter of this week was Ll - We labelled the classroom, using our phonetic awareness to stretch and sound out different words! We have been practicing this a lot recently as we start to build our reading and writing skills - We journaled about the Olympics, and drew pictures as what winter sport we would choose if we were athletes, ask your kiddo which sport they picked Looking Forward... - Friday February 20th is PM Kindergarten, please do not send your morning kindergarten friends ☺ our next AM Kindergarten in Friday March 6th!  - Tuesday is library day, please return all books!  - Wednesday February 25th is Pink Shirt day - to spread kindness and a sense of belonging.  - There is NO SCHOOL Friday February 27th for a system wide PD Day - A reminder; please DO NOT let your child bring ANY toys to school.  Looking Back... - The letter of the week was Vv for Valentine  - We had Kindergarten Olympics and rotated through a bunch of different stations including Scooter Luge, Paper plate Figure Skating, painting, math games and literacy games that were olympic themed - On Wednesday we handed out Valentine's, decorated bags and made all sorts of different hearts  - For Art we read The Love Monster and created our very own love monsters Looking Forward... - There is NO SCHOOL Thursday February 12 to Monday February 16th , classes resume Tuesday February 17th  - Next Friday February 20th is PM Kindergarten, please do not send your morning kindergarten friends ☺ - Tuesday is library day, please return all books!  - A reminder; please DO NOT let your child bring ANY toys to school.  Looking Back... What a busy week! - The letter of the week this week was Gg for groundhog!  - On Monday we listened to a story about Groundhog Day and talked about what it means, we looked out the window and brainstormed what we thought the groundhog would predict for this year!! We all thought he would say early spring, but he said 6 more weeks of winter - We made groundhog homes with cute little groundhogs as a fun craft - In math our number of the week was 9, we used pictures, numbers, and tens frames to represent the number 9 - We watched number blocks to introduce the number 9 and they made lots of math sentences that equalled 9 so we tried to make some too. Like 8 + 1 = 9 and 5 + 4 = 9  - We did a letter sort and organized words that did and did not start with the letter Gg into the right categories, some of us even used our knowledge of letters to sound out and label our work!!  - To kick off the Olympics we talked all about winter sports, sportsmanship and w...

 Looking Back... - The letter of the week last week was Nn for Narwhal! We read Narwhal and Jelly books and drew a narwhal - We did a letter sort to organize images that started with Mm and Nn, this helped us learn the difference between the sounds these two letters make - In math we worked on our knowledge of 2D shapes - With our buddies we made and labelled snowmen using lots of different 2D shapes - Using tiles, we built animals out of shapes as well - The letter of the week this week was Oo for Octopus and Olympics  Looking Forward... - Library day is Tuesday! Please return library books every week to be exchanged for new ones ☺ - If you could collect and send in clean toilet paper rolls for a project at the beginning of February, that would be greatly appreciated! We need one for each student in Kindergarten.  - Next week Friday, January 6th we are celebrating the Winter Olympics opening ceremonies. Happy New Year!  Looking Back... - We have jumped right back into learning since the break!!  - The number of the week last week was 6, we represented six using pictures, number form, stickers and tens frames - For art we did a project using 6 sticks - ask your kiddo what they turned 6 sticks into, they had some really creative ideas!  - Last week's letter of the week was Ww for winter, we talked about what changes outside in winter and fun winter activities - We journaled "In winter I see...." using pictures and starting to sound out beginning letter sounds we labeled our drawings - The letter of the week this week was Mm - We read The Mitten and practiced sequencing a story by acting out the animals with headbands and cutting and gluing animal pictures in order - We finished patterning, creating our very own patterns on Mittens! - The number of the week this week was 7 Looking Forward... - Next week provincial assessments start, I will be in the building working with st...

Looking Back... - The letter of the week this week was Cc for candy cane and cookie, using just a piece of paper we learned how to make our own pattern candy canes  - For read aloud we listened to a few different versions of the Gingerbread Man story; ask your student which one was their favourite - After listening to the gingerbread man story, we sequenced how to make a gingerbread cookie from start to finish and labelled it 1-6  - We continued to practice writing letters 3 and 5 as they are a little tricky!  - We made snowmen books and counted up from 1 to 5 on each page, using snowman stickers to represent each number  Looking Forward... - Next week Friday we will be trying small Gingerbread cookies for our intro to the 5 senses, please let me know of any dietary restrictions that would require your student to not participate in the tasting - Friday December 19th is the last day of school before winter break!
